Eddie Argos is arguably one of the busiest working musicians in the world at the moment, touring with Art Brut, Everybody Was In The French Resistance…Now and guest djing.

While touring, Argos paints narrative paintings that resemble postcards. He’s been kind enough to paint a memory postcard piece for Garde Rail about a gig in Erlangen, Germany.

This Saturday, November 19^thwill be official ART BRUT day at Garde Rail Gallery in honor of the genre we show and the band we love.

Art Brut records will play all day long without interruption and I will be auctioning off this highly coveted postcard memory painting by Eddie Argos in a silent auction starting at 11am and ending at 6p.m. The reserve for this piece will be $40.

GRG is taking on a whole new meaning the next two weekends in Austin.

Garde Rail Gallery will inhabit a GARAGE in East Austin debuting work by some of the artists on our roster for the first time ever in Capital City.

If you’re on the East Austin Studio Tour please stop by, we’re #17 on the map and you can find us at 1911 Garden St, Austin, 78702.

Days+Hours- November 12th and 13th and 19th and 20th, 11-6.

I was intrigued some years back when I heard about a band called ART BRUT, naturally. When I heard them I loved them. Turns out, lead-singing, high-kicking frontman Eddie Argos also paints and has a great style.

Blackstock’s European debut is on exhibit at CDL’AB from 9.30.11-2.19.12.

The response from the press and the public in Lausanne was so positive and plentiful and Blackstock enjoyed the time of his life on his week long Swiss adventure. Merci!

Terry Turrell to be represented by Garde Rail Gallery

Garde Rail Gallery has long admired the work of Seattle artist Terry Turrell, and we are pleased to debut Turrell’s paintings and sculpture at Aqua Art in Miami, December 2-5^th 2010.

A self-taught figurative painter and sculptor, Terry Turrell is a natural fit for Garde Rail Gallery. Turrell’s preference for found materials and the juxtaposition of rugged with playful create his unique narrative. His signature layering of paint and building of texture allows for an emotional interchange with the art and define Turrell’s raw sensibility as an artist.

Garde Rail Gallery is proud to be the first gallery to represent the photography of Austin, TX artist Pooneh Ghana. After seeing a photo of the band Art Brut (ironically enough) taken by Ghana, GRG perused more photos to discover a mountain of incredibly candid Polaroids of musicians at close range. These photographs are untouched and unfiltered, a real and fresh perspective in the digital age. Ghana’s work is not only behind the scenes; her precise and colorful live shots demonstrate great range for the emerging artist.

Pooneh’s love for music has been the driving force in her photography taking her around Europe and America for the love of it. Having the gumption and the height (she’s 5’11”) she’s never hesitated going where she needed to in order to get the shot; her talent was quickly recognized and rewarded when press passes started gaining her more and downright legitimate access. Ghana’s work has already been featured in online zines and blogs such as Swide, Stereogum and Rollingstone.com.
